Biology at MIT:
High School Outreach -- The Department of Biology is actively involved in science outreach at
the high school/precollege level. The goal of these outreach programs is to make science fun and
exciting by bringing new hands-on activities into the classrooms, and to make teaching and
learning science a more enriching and rewarding experience for both students and teachers.

in Your Community, Massachusetts -- Intel implements a wide variety of education programs

ISEF), the world's largest pre-college science competition.

-- M.A.S.S. is an organization of all science leaders committed to the improvement of science
education in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Its mission is to facilitate a general improvement
in science education by means of professional exchange of information,
ideas and solutions to common problems through the affiliation with other professional science
education organizations, museums and cultural institutions, corporations, and the State
Department of Education.
Massachusetts BioHistory -- Learn about
significant milestones in the historical development of Massachusetts's biotechnology &
medical technology industry.
Massachusetts Collaborative Project
-- The mission of the Massachusetts Girls Collaborative Project is to connect and support programs that promote
exploration and learning for girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This is
achieved through the sharing of ideas and resources, the creation of a comprehensive program
guide, and the disbursement of mini-grants to innovative projects.

Parent Teachers Association (PTA) -- The Massachusetts State PTA aims to empower and
support members with skills in advocacy, leadership, and communication to positively impact the
lives of all children.

Science Olympiad -- The Science Olympiad is an international nonprofit organization devoted to improving the
quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition
for outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers. These goals are
accomplished through classroom activities, research, training workshops and the encouragement of
intramural, district, regional, state and national tournaments.
Massachusetts State Science Fair (MSSF)
-- The Massachusetts State Science Fair (MSSF) gives students throughout the Commonwealth a special
opportunity to compete for college scholarships, awards, honors programs and other exciting
prizes. Each year, young scientists from public, private, parochial schools and home schoolers
(Grades 9-12) pursue specialized fields of science by working on individualized research
projects, either as part of their core curriculum or through independent study.
Museum of Science, Boston
-- The mission of the Museum of Science, Boston is to stimulate interest in and further
understanding of science and technology and their importance for individuals and for society. The
museum also founded the National Center for Technological
Literacy which offers educational products and programs for pre-K-12 students and teachers,
creates curricula, supports an online resource center, and engages in partnership and outreach
with other institutions.
Science, Technology, Engineering
and Mathematics (STEM) Education Institute -- The Institute was formed to play a major role
in meeting the goals of the University of Massachusetts in academic outreach, teaching and
learning, research, diversity, and multiculturalism. The effects of coordinating these efforts
will increase the opportunities to obtain external grants and to allow the University to play a
leadership role in the national and state efforts to reform and improve science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics education.
Worcester
Polytechnic Institute K-12 Outreach -- Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) offers many
K-12 student outreach programs as well as adult programs for educators, guidance couselors, and parents.
Student outreach includes specialized programs for female students and students of color, plus an
11th and 12th grade public high school for 100 academically accelerated youths called the
Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science at
WPI.
