Summary:
The Sr. Director, Global New Product Strategy serves as the Global Marketing lead on multiple early-stage pipeline programs as well as mid-stage programs with upcoming pivotal decisions. They will lead the development of commercial deliverables and prepare Seagen to ensure a successful global launch and maximize product potential. This role represents Commercial on global product teams and works closely with Global Insights and Operations, Development, Regulatory, Research, Medical Affairs and other key stakeholders. The role will also be responsible for coordinating with our partners and leading joint commercialization teams. The role requires excellent communication skills, clinical acumen, leadership and a proven ability to influence across the organization.
This role reports to the Lead for Global New Product Strategy.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Global Marketing representative on multiple global product teams across the mid- and early-stage portfolio.
- Develop global strategy, brand planning, positioning, messaging, and INN work. Identify critical issues that have the potential to impact the product. Make commercial decisions and provide a product vision based on market research, competitive intelligence, thought leader advisement, and emerging clinical data.
- Develop the initial launch vision and commercial strategy for mid-stage programs and prepare them for seamless transitions to pre-launch teams.
- Lead the Global Marketing efforts to shape and inform pivotal trial decisions by identifying global commercial needs and trade-offs.
- Develop and deliver insights on external environment, including competitive landscape, market requirements, and unmet medical needs.
- Identify and develop thought leaders.
- Seek medical expert insights by arranging and conducting consultations with thought leaders.
- Provide commercial feedback to impact formulation and packaging development decisions.
- Complete market opportunity assessments and make recommendations on future indications.
- Work with the Global Insights and Operations team to develop forecasting assumptions and models.
- Drive all commercial considerations of biomarker identification and companion diagnostic development.
- Present pipeline updates and future commercial impacts to senior and executive Commercial leadership.
- Partner with regional teams to ensure diverse commercial insights are brought into the development process.
- Partner with Medical Affairs on publication planning and medical education strategies.
- Partner with Market Access and HEOR teams to help develop the value proposition and access/ reimbursement strategies.
- Effectively transition products to in-line marketing teams.
- Optimize productivity of external partnerships across the globe. Model behavior which sets the tone for the partnerships.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of commercial biotech or pharmaceutical experience, with at least 6 years of oncology marketed brand responsibilities
- Experience in at least one of the following roles: strategic planning, market analytics, business development, sales or sales leadership.
- Successful launch experience in a competitive market preferred.
- Global marketing experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop actionable insights from complex clinical data and market research.
- Understanding of the drug development process, especially regarding opportunities for differentiation and value demonstration.
- Strong leadership and ability to influence functional stakeholders to set direction, align work efforts, and ensure outstanding execution.
- Proven team player, particularly with other functions.
- Proven ability to work in a highly matrixed environment.
- Strong communication skills across a variety of organizational levels and disciplines, including senior executives.
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel globally (~20%) is required.
Education:
- Undergraduate degree required
- Masters of Business Administration or relevant advanced degree preferred

The hiring pay range for this position is $251,000 to $324,500 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
